CRITIQUE OR NOT TO CRITIQUE, THAT IS THE SUBJECT

Suraya has posted an interesting article on Writer's Pen. If you are a writer and wish to join a group of serious writers, please let me know. Don't sit at your computer all alone - share your thoughts and work with us.

I know sometimes I have hurt someones feelings on this touchy subject but quite honestly, I am a great advocate of good feedback. My own thoughts each time I get critiqued are - keep on board what I know is useful and throw the rest overboard. I have never come across any criticism that I thought was personally unkind. In fact, the more detailed criticism is the more useful. Having said that, I don't think it is of any use spending time telling a writer they missed a commer here and there or there's a spelling mistake. That gets sorted out in the final edit. What I want to know is, are my characters believable. Is the plot working and can you see the scene and smell the fish and chips. More importantly, we should be concerned about critique if we are to meet the standards of the Story Mint so we can be published. Let us all give and receive criticism with an open mind. I think we have a great mix of writers here in all genres, each striving to reach a goal. Criticism should be the tool that helps us all reach it.
